Requested: US$ 28,449,224 Herewith we send
you the first part of the Revision 2 of the Tsunami Appeal ASRE51
as planned. This Revision includes the revised proposals from the
ACT members in India and Somalia as well as the ACT Co-ordinating
Office in Geneva and the Evaluation. The present Revision
2 includes more detailed plans for rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The planning done by the ACT members foresees a longer term rehabilitation
programme and relationship with the affected communities, beyond the
presently agreed upon two year implementation period for Appeal ASRE51.
It is therefore envisaged that by September 2006 further decisions
will be made related to the follow up of the work started under this
appeal. The major change
in Revision 2 relates to the programme of ACT member CASA in India,
which includes additional plans for rehabilitation and reconstruction
on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The next part
of Revision 2 will include the revised programmes from the ACT members
in Indonesia and Sri Lanka and is expected to be ready
within the next six weeks. Project
Completion Date: Due
to the magnitude of the disaster, longer term assistance to the affected
will be necessary. To ensure the appropriate time for planning and
implementation this Appeal will be for the period of two years to
